Edward M. Shedlock, Sr
Edward M. Shedlock, Sr., 85, of Fernwood, RD Houtzdale passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008 at 7:10 PM at Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
Mr. Shedlock was born on Dec. 14, 1922 in Ginter, PA a son of Martin and Anna Rose (Fudrow) Shedlock.
He was a 1940 graduate of the Madera high School.
Mr. Shedlock entered the U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marines in 1943. His 3.5 years maritime service, during W.W.II included 64 foreign countries and 18 trips across the Atlantic. In 1947 he enlisted into the United States Air Force. He was promoted to Master Sergeant and retired in 1967 after 20 years service. During his Air Force career, Mr. Shedlock was stationed at Air Force Bases in Panama, Michigan, Philippine Islands, New York, Wyoming, Illinois and Alaska. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for outstanding service.
He was a former Supervisor and Secretary -Treasure of Gulich Township. He owned the Shedlock Excavation and Coal Operation in Fernwood and was partners with his wife in the Morroni Florist Shop from 1980-1985. He was a member of the Stephen Kandrach VFW Post 6321
On Dec. 14, 1944 in Tyrone, PA he married the former Geraldine Martin who survives of Fernwood.
Mr. Shedlock is survived by two sons; Edward M. Shedlock, Jr and his wife Teresa of Anchorage, AK and Eugene M. Shedlock of Fernwood. He is also survived by 6 grandsons, 2 step grandsons, 2 great grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren As well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes "Peg" Manning and a brother, Steven Shedlock.
Friends will be received on Friday, June 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. and on Saturday, June 28 from 9-11 AM at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc. Ramey.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 28, at 11:00 Am in the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc. Ramey. Rev. Thomas A. McCoy will officiate and interment will follow in the Brisbin I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin, PA. Military Honors will be conducted by the Stephen Kandrach VFW. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Clearfield Hospital Hospice 438 Front St. Clearfield, PA 16830.
