Mary (Lazeration) Bendas

Mrs. Mary (Lazeration) Bendas, 86, of Altoona and formerly of Ginter, passed away at 6:10 PM, Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.

She was born on Sept. 12, 1923, in Ginter a daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Lashinsky) Lazeration.

Mrs. Bendas was a life member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey and along with her sister, Christine, was co-owner and operator of the former Cold Stream Coffee Shop in Philipsburg.

On Aug. 17, 1946, in New York City, she married Steven Bendas, he preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1984.

Mrs. Bendas is survived by 6 siblings, Christine Bendos of Altoona, Frank Lazeration and his wife Mary of Houtzdale, John Lazeration and his wife Esther of Ginter, Madlyn Kechisen of Twinsburg, OH., Paul Lazeration and his wife Joann of Linden, NJ and Ann Daniel and her husband Paul of RD Houtzdale.

She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a bother, George Lazeration and three sisters, Susan Wasilko, Kathryn Lazeration and Helen Bankosky.

Friends will be received on Sunday, Jan. 24, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Monday, Jan. 25 from 9-10:30 AM in the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc. Ramey. Parastas will be held on Sunday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home by Fr. Anthony Balistreri.

Funeral Services on Monday, Jan. 25, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey, with Fr. Anthony Balistreri officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Ramey.
